Engaged Learning (by L’École branchée) is thrilled to invite you to another inspiring VIP live Zoom event in English!
Join us on Thursday, May 15th from 12:00–12:45 pm EST (10-10:45 am MDT) for A Presentation on Student Innovation for Cleaner Parks (Young Minds, Big Impact)
Nicole from Engaged Learning will host this session, featuring special guests Caitlin Cornell and Elyse Schlichter, French immersion teachers at A.E. Bowers Elementary in Airdrie, Alberta. Caitlin authored an inspiring article describing this innovative project showcasing how Grade 1 and 2 students tackled real-world environmental challenges through creativity, collaboration, and bilingual learning. Guided by their teachers, the students designed and 3D-printed a waste disposal device to help reduce litter in Alberta parks—with the support of high school peers and Parks Canada.
From brainstorming and prototyping to field-testing in Banff and community outreach in Airdrie, this project is a powerful example of how interdisciplinary, problem-based learning can empower even the youngest students to make a meaningful difference.
Don’t miss the chance to hear directly from the educators behind this remarkable initiative! Bring your lunch, tune in, and join us for an engaging conversation!
