The LEARN Ped Team’s June 2026 update brings together several opportunities for educators in Québec’s English-language and bilingual contexts, while also offering ideas that may interest school teams elsewhere looking to connect curriculum, place-based learning and citizenship education.
The first date to note is June 26, when LEARN will host Outdoor Learning: Spring & Summer, a bilingual, in-person professional development workshop in Laval. The day will take place outdoors and is designed for educators interested in expanding learning beyond the classroom walls. Registration is open, with only a few spots remaining.
Two student workshops presented by Parks Canada are also highlighted in the June bulletin: Memory of the Acadian People in Restigouche on June 3 and Green Gables on June 10. LEARN notes that more Parks Canada workshops are expected in 2026–2027, giving educators a preview of heritage- and culture-based programming that could support classroom learning through national historic and literary contexts.
LEARN has also added new resources for Culture and Citizenship in Québec (CCQ), the Québec subject area that addresses themes such as identity, collective life, diversity, sexuality education, existential questions, relationships and media literacy. There are separate links for Elementary 1–6 and Secondary 1–5 resources, making it easier for teachers to locate age-appropriate activities.
This focus connects naturally with broader classroom needs around digital citizenship and media literacy.
June is also National Indigenous History Month in Canada. LEARN’s update invites educators to listen to the Kwey Podcast, borrow the Indigenous Peoples Atlas of Canada in the fall, and explore LEARN’s Education for Reconciliation resource page.
