Recent years have shown us that the well-being of students and school staff is essential to creating a healthy, balanced learning environment. This issue has never been more prominent. This balance is necessary for meaningful learning, enhanced classroom engagement and cultivating happiness within the school community… for everyone!

How can schools become catalysts for well-being? Specifically, how can we guide the use of digital tools thoughtfully and responsibly to support this objective? What practices can reduce the negative impact on mental and physical health, while maximizing the educational benefits?

This upcoming issue of EngagED Learning magazine will highlight initiatives, strategies, and reflections on well-being at school for both students and teachers. From educating students on the healthy use of technology to creating thriving environments that nurture happiness, this issue will explore how pedagogical and organizational approaches can address current challenges.

Key Questions to Explore:

  • How can we cultivate a school culture that prioritizes overall well-being, incorporating innovative and inclusive pedagogical approaches?
  • What strategies can reduce the negative effects of digital technology, such as digital fatigue or stress, while maximizing its educational value?
  • How can we empower students to adopt responsible digital behaviours that promote their well-being?
  • What initiatives or programs foster happiness at school, based on values such as inclusion, collaboration and mental health?
  • How can we equip students and teachers to leverage digital tools while maintaining a healthy balance between school life and personal well-being?
